Katsuya South Beach

Sorry for being MIA these past weeks but with the semester ending and finals I was cheating on my blog with Pizza Hut and Ben and Jerry’s. But now I’m back and I will be spending my winter break in Miami so hopefully there will be plenty of new places to visit!

Last night we had an incredible night out in the SLS Hotel in South Beach. First we had drinks outside in The Bazaar by Jose Andres while our table was ready, caipirinhas were amazing and I hear the food is great as well, which is no surprise since Jose Andres always surprises us with incredible dishes. But since we were craving sushi we decided to dine in Katsuya.

The ambience of the restaurant is definitely the best part of the place, as soon as you enter you are welcomed with cheers in what I assumed was Japanese, and the decoration is amazing especially with the artworks that were still hanging around due to the very recent Art Basel that I sadly missed. For appetizers we had the crispy rice with spicy tuna, the baked crab hand rolls, the Katsuya ceviche, and the lobster dynamite, which was a perfectly baked sautéed lobster with mushrooms, and dynamite sauce, my absolute favorite dish. We then shared 3 different rolls that included the lobster roll and the hamachi sizzle roll. As to drinks I had the lotus flower cocktail which went great with the food.

Everything was great and fresh, the perfect place to eat before a fun night out. I will hopefully be going back to this place since I have my eye on a Japanese Risotto with truffle that I didn’t get around to trying and definitely looks like a must.
