Pistacia Vera

In an impromptu trip to Columbus, OH we ran into one of those adorable cafés that give you the feeling that you could just sit there all day long sipping on a latte, and trying every single one of their pastries.

Not only does Pistacia Vera offer an exquisite variety of pastries and coffee, it also serves an exceptional brunch. And if you know me, then you know that there’s nothing that I love more than merging two meals into one and making it acceptable to eat pancakes and Eggs Benedict at 2 pm.

Croissants and Pastries

We shared the Bacon Swiss chard, and Onion Quiche, which was hands down the best quiche I’ve had so far in the States. The house made pâte brisee had the perfect buttery consistency of crumbly, yet firm a quiche should have; and the double smoked bacon combined with comté cheese, and onion confit provided a unique flavor that put to shame any average Quiche Lorraine.

While the quiche was delicious, the definite winner on the table was the Smoked Salmon “Tartare” which provided a light and fresh option for brunch. This tartare was a combination of  smoked salmon, créme fraîche, cucumber, terragon, lemon, and cracked pepper. It was served with a toasted rye croissant that complemented it perfectly.

Finally, we shared a Pistachio Mascarpone Dacquoise because we couldn’t leave the place without trying at least one of the pastries. And it was so delicious that this alone would be a good enough reason to come back to Columbus.
